Unique 2-piece "Etruscan Spiral Dining Table” in patinated bronze and pewter with engraved abstract design by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, 1960's (signed on both bases “Philip Kelvin LaVerne”). This dining table is composed of 2 square tables on bronze castors with original hardware on the undersides which latches them together to form a seamless single dining table. If you unlatch them you have 2 square dining/game tables. An ingenious design by two of the most inventive artists of the 20th century. These tables are magnificent.

In the back of the catalog is the description, “Intricacy of interwoven bronze and pewter, hand sculptured to form the arabesques of this subject, combine in a supremely elegant motif. Karl Springer Rare Backgammon/Games Table in Lacquered Goatskin 1970s

Rare and exceptional "Parsons Style Backgammon Table" in lacquered goatskin with brass trim, backgammon board with inset gray and ox blood leather points, with flip up storage compartments and original game pieces and cups by Karl Springer, American 1970s. On the underside of the top which covers the backgammon table is a checker/chess board. Very few of these tables were made in lacquered goatskin. It is superbly crafted and very luxurious.

Stunning and unique “Abstract #1” dining table with 2 hand-brazed abstract sculpture bases in patinated bronze with a thick glass top by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1980's (engraved “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” in metal and original gallery label on bottom of base). Hand-welding bronze full curves and undulations is extremely difficult. These bases have a sense of harmony and can accommodate any size glass top.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Important "Etruscan Spiral Extension Dining Table" 1960s (Signed)

One-of-a-kind "Etruscan Spiral Extension Dining Table" with extensions that fit on each end in patinated bronze and pewter with hand-painted polychrome enamels and unique pierced bronze bases by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on side of tabletop with original paper labels on leaves). This table was made specially for Fred and Edith Horowitz, personal friends of the LaVernes. Their initials are incorporated into the bases as part of the design; “EH” on one base and “FH” on the other base. There are rods that come out from inside the table to support the leaves; they lock in place to give the leaves solid support. This table is exceptional in every way and represents the best of the LaVernes’ art and ingenuity. The abstract graphic design on the table top is simply stunning with beautiful coloration. The pattern is continuous from the table top onto the extensions. There is a felt lined wood case which the LaVernes made for the extensions.

This table can be used as a dining table with a large glass top (as shown) or a center table with a top fitted to the base. It is very versatile and was designed to be such. The metal has been completely restored and the table is in excellent condition. We will fabricate a new glass top to spec for the purchaser. It can take a larger glass top if desired.
