Exceptional “Parsons Style Backgammon Table” in embossed beige lizard leather and inset chrome with interior backgammon board including game pieces and matching pair of “Onassis Chairs” with upholstered seats by Karl Springer, American 1994 (signed and dated on both chairs and table “Karl Springer 1994”). Backgammon board is made of leather. These came from a private collection in New York.

The caption from the LaVerne catalog reads, “Chinese artistry at its peak under the Chan Dynasty is recreated in this intricately carved design. We see peasants carrying a sacred gift to the Emperor’s child. Delicately wrought leaves and figures, combine with a rich variety of multicolored patinas to create the Chinoiserie top. The design is credited as inspiring and evoking French and English periods of furniture design.”
