Hand-blown glass vase, amber with silver foil and spiral design, by Giulio Radi for A.V.E.M., Murano Italy, ca 1950. The coloration and silver foil make this piece sublime.

Reference:
AVEM Artistic Production 1932-1972 by Marc Heiremans published by Arnoldsche in 2020, pages 46 and 47 show other models by Radi with the same technique. Page 299 shows original drawings by Radi with the same spiral design.

Provenance:
Evan Lobel purchased this pieces directly from A.V.E.M. in 2001 as part of a large collection of pieces stored there from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.

Pair of rare and unique occasional tables with horns, beveled glass, nickel silver and polished jasper by J. Antony Redmile, London, 1970's (stamped “redmile London” on table top). Redmile was adept at combining superb craftsmanship and exotic materials. Each piece that he designed is a unique work of art. Because one table was designed to be slightly lower than the other, they can be staggered (as shown). These are super chic.

This work is visually stunning -a still life motif with vase and flowers. The rich blue enamels against the patinated bronze is superb.

ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, A Shang Ti table is shown on page 66 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series. The caption reads, “The 1960s Shang Ti table is one of two models. This one, with its beautiful floral motif, was enhanced with the use of enamel cloisonne.
