Lobel Modern, opened in 1998 by Evan Lobel, showcases furniture, lighting, hand-blown glass and art by important designers from the 1940's thru the 1980's. Located in the Four Points section of lower Manhattan.

"Classical Coffee Table" in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter showing the muses of Dance, Poetry, Music and Drama with delicately hand-painted enamels in white, blue and green by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip K. Large and unusual “Chan” coffee table in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with hand-painted enamels in blue, green, and orange by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip. Kelvin. LaVerne” on top). Chan coffee tables by the LaVernes were typically done in round and small rectangular forms. This was a custom order. The coloration of this table is superb.

We see peasants carrying a sacred gift to the Emperor’s child. Delicately wrought leaves and figures, combine with a rich variety of multicolored patinas to create the Chinoiserie top. The design is credited as inspiring and evoking French and English periods of furniture design.”

Rare and exceptional "Goatskin Free Form Desk" in high gloss lacquered goatskin with drawer by Karl Springer, American 1988 (date stamped on bottom). Springer’s Free Form series is considered among his best. Very few of these were made. The craftsmanship is simply superb. A unique work of art.
