Paul Evans Rare and Important "Wavy Front Cabinet" 1969 (Signed and Dated) - SOLD

Rare and Important large 4 door "Wavy Front Cabinet" in welded, patinated and textured steel with gilt and hand-colored enamels and original slate slab top by Paul Evans, American 1969 (signed and dated on bottom of door, ”Paul Evans 69”). The texturing of the metal doors and the enamel colors are exquisite. Coloration is completely original and in excellent condition. The doors are welded with wavy abstract compositions on both fronts and backs. The interior has 2 drawers covered in felt, each with a beautiful welded and gilded pull. Besides the drawers, there is a red lacquer wash and adjustable shelves. This piece was designed to be paired with Evans Sculptured Metal Dining Table which is currently available in the showroom (photo included). This is the best Wavy Front Cabinet we have seen.

Paul Evans Designer & Sculptor by Jeffrey Head published by Schiffer in 2012. There is a photo of the wall-mounted version of this model on page 53 with the description, “Wavy front wall-mounted cabinet, 1966. Welded and patinated steel with natural cleft slate top.”
