Anzolo Fuga Large Hand-Blown "Murrine Incatenate" Glass Vase 1960

Hand-blown glass vase from the Murrine Incatenate Series with red and green murrhines by Anzolo Fuga for Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.), Murano Italy, 1960. The soft blue glass of the vase is stunning with the colorful murrhines and yellow rod.

Literature: 
Anzolo Fuga, Murano Glass Artist, Designs for A.V.E.M. by Rosa Barovier Mentasti, Acanthus Press, 2005, section titled "MURRINE INCATENATE 1959-60,” page 122, describes this series, and shows many similar examples on pages 123-160.

Provenance:
Evan Lobel purchased this piece directly from A.V.E.M. in 2001 as part of a large collection of pieces stored there from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 60’s.

Stunning female nude "Blue Angel" on patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with enamel cloisonne by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” in bottom right corner). This work retains the original Seymour Gallery label on the back which where the LaVernes showed their finest artworks. The enamel cloisonne gives great depth to the colors.

Turtle screenprint in colors by Andy Warhol 1985, on Lenox Museum Board, signed in pencil, numbered 234/250 (there were also fifty artist's proofs), printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York, with his blindstamp and the artist’s copyright stamp on the reverse, published by CBS, Inc., Los Angeles. This print was published to coincide with the 1985 film Turtle Diary written by Harold Pinter. This work is framed in a white lacquer frame with plexi over it.

Chinese Monumental Scholar Stone in Limestone 2006 (with Original Documentation) - SOLD

Monumental "Gong-shi" (Scholar Stone) in Ling bi (limestone) with carved wood base, China 2006 (with original purchase documentation). Collected in China from the Tang dynasty (618-907 C.E.) onwards, scholar's rocks are natural formations prized for their aesthetic qualities, particularly their unique colors and shapes, as well as their ability to invoke and encapsulate the natural world. Ling bi rocks, or fantastic stones, are shaped by the elements and represent elegant natural beauty. They are thought to possess the special forces of both heaven and earth, the sun and the moon in a natural brilliance. These rocks are highly treasured and have been given in tribute since the Song Dynasty.

Sides are trimmed in bronze. Philip and Kelvin LaVerne did a small series of unique abstract paintings which hung in their gallery until they were sold. Only a handful were ever made. This work is exceptional in every way.

These were done as a complementary pair in a small edition. The scale and forms are stunning.

Rare and important 29 piece studio made set of ceramic plates, serving pieces, and cups by Roy Hamilton, American 1980's (signed and stamped on every piece).  It is rare to find such a large service by Roy Hamilton.

In a NEW YORK TIMES article from 1988 Albert Hadley commented: “In ceramics, the work of Roy Hamilton is certainly expressive of our time, with clean, imaginative shapes and interesting finishes. These objects reflect an appreciation and understanding of quality crafted objects. The classic, quiet things will endure.”
