“Silence,” a rare and important sculpture of a reclining male in cast bronze with green patina with a patinated bronze base and a thick amoebic glass top by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, American 1970s (signed “Philip and Kelvin Laverne”).
The LaVernes mostly sculpted female nudes. This work was a departure because they wanted to experiment with the sinewy male form and express soundlessness. This bronze figure has no ears and is expressionless. It’s an important LaVerne work of art.
