ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this table is shown on pages 64-65 in the section titled Historical Civilization Series. The caption from the LaVerne catalog reads, “The LES CHINOIS coffee table was created in the 1970s. The LaVenes were constantly experimenting with different ways to showcase their artistic skills. Here, the engraved and hand-colored scenes are on the legs, which had to be bent into shape by hand. The tabletop shows the LaVerne patina which was obtained by burying it underground.”
