"Silence" an Important Cast Sculpture by Philip and Kelvin Laverne - SOLD

Eric McNatt

“Silence,” a rare and important sculpture of a reclining male in cast bronze with green patina with a patinated bronze base and a thick amoebic glass top by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, American 1970s (signed “Philip and Kelvin Laverne”).
The LaVernes mostly sculpted female nudes. This work was a departure because they wanted to experiment with the sinewy male form and express soundlessness. This bronze figure has no ears and is expressionless. It’s an important LaVerne work of art.

Reference:
ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, this sculpture is shown on page 159 in the section titled The Cast Series Below the photo is an in depth discussion of this work by Kelvin LaVerne.
