Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Large "Tao Coffee Table" 1970s - SOLD

Evan Lobel

Large "Tao Coffee Table" in etched and patinated pewter and bronze with hand-applied colorful enamel accents by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (signed on top “Philip, Kelvin LaVerne”). This is a large and beautiful example of their work.

As the "Tao" series is described in the original catalog:  "The delicate artistry of the Tao period is brilliantly sculptured in bronze and pewter.  This major oriental dynasty was primarily concerned with the importance of man in relation to his surroundings and architecture.  Soft hints of red, blue and green patina colorings embrace the top."
