"Bristol Coffee Table" with top in pie-cut lacquered goatskin with contrasting goatskin sabots by Karl Springer, American 1990 (Dated “8-8-90” on bottom). The scale, craftsmanship, and fine materials are each impressive. This coffee table was certainly a custom order - it is high and it was designed for a family room where games were played on it and it was the centerpiece of family activity. It could also be used as a side table. Newly refinished in high gloss lacquer by Lobel Modern.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne "Classical Coffee Table" with Greek Muses 1960s (Signed)

"Classical Coffee Table" in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter showing the muses of Dance, Poetry, Music and Drama with delicately hand-painted enamels in white, blue and green by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Philip K. LaVerne” on top). The LaVernes were often inspired by Greek mythology and the arts. This table is a marvel of execution.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Rare "Chan Floral" Coffee Table 1950s (Signed)

Rare and early “Chan Floral” coffee table in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with hand-painted blue enamels and lovely botanical motif by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1958-9 (Signed “Phillip K. LaVerne” on top). This table retains its original gallery label which shows Gem Stone Arts, the company where the LaVernes were experimenting with prototypes before the opening of the Philip LaVerne Gallery on East 57th Street in NYC in 1960. We have never seen another one of these tables. The climbing botanical motif is intricate and beautifully hand-colored. The LaVernes experimented with botanical subject matter throughout their collaboration.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Magnificent "Odyssey" Coffee Table 1960s (Signed)

Rare and important "Odyssey” Coffee Table in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with vibrant hand-painted enamels and gold and copper leaf atop a Greek column pedestal base by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “Kelvin. Philip LaVerne” on top). This table is based on ancient Greek architecture and mythology. In the 1960’s Kelvin went to Greece to sketch ruins. On the left side of the scene is an artist sitting and sketching on the steps of the Erechtheion ruins. Kelvin LaVerne drew himself into the scene for posterity. On the right side is the Parthenon, and Muses stand in the foreground. Kelvin LaVerne wrote a long recollection and description about this piece featured in the book below.

Large “Etruscan Spiral” coffee table in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with hand-painted enamels in pale blue and green on bronze bamboo legs by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960s (signed “Philip & Kelvin LaVerne” on side with original gallery label on bottom.) The repeating abstract pattern on top is mesmerizing and has beautiful coloration. This is a LaVerne work of art.

Beautifully made "Onyx Coffee Table" in polished gold-tinted brass with beveled bronze glass top by Karl Springer, American 1980's. All elements of the metal base curve and thus cannot be made on a machine; they were all hand cut and welded by the foremost metal artisans. A rare and magnificent Springer design.

Exceptional and early complete set of 3 "Free Form Coffee Tables" in polished stainless steel on hidden casters by Karl Springer, American early-1980’s.  It is rare to see a complete set in polished stainless steel.  These are seamlessly welded and meticulously crafted.  They are considered one of Springer's best designs. Later Springer added thick black glass tops to this series.
