Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Rare "Persephone Enslaved" Sculpture Coffee Table 1970s (Signed) - SOLD
Evan Lobel
Important and rare “Persephone Enslaved” cast sculpture in patinated bronze with green patina and hand-painted enamels in green and blue with welded chain elements on a patinated bronze base with customized thick glass top by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, American 1970's (signed “Philip LaVerne” on base). The form of the welded chains and the fantastic sense of the figure’s movement make this table dynamic. Cast sculptures by the LaVernes were only done in small editions for a few years in the early 1970’s as they were laborious and expensive to produce.
