Joseph Spohr was a gifted glass artist who did unique engraved designs in glass for Springer. This coffee table with its intricate hand-worked circular floral engraving is a feat of artisanship. This is a unique and special table.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Very Rare and Important "Waves Cabinet" 1960s (Signed) - ON HOLD

Extremely rare and important 4-door “Waves Cabinet” in patinated and engraved bronze and pewter with hand-painted blue and green enamels and green lacquered interior by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne 1960s signed. Engraved “Philip K LaVerne“ on top edge. . Shelf edges are finished in bronze and drawers are lined in felt. The top and sides are beautifully mottled as only the LaVernes could. This stunning cabinet is a tour de force of artisanship. The “Waves” motif is one of the most intricate by the LaVernes. They did several works showcasing their love for nature, particularly the ocean. In discussing this series with Kelvin LaVerne for the book in 2023, Kelvin said this cabinet was one of the rarest, with very few in existence. The Waves Series was done in such small numbers that they do not appear in the LaVerne catalogs of the era - they were made for special clients.

These were created as a complementary pair in a small edition. The coloration of the enamels against the rich bronze background is superb.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne "Leda and the Swan" Unique Wall Sculpture 1960s (Signed)

Unique wall sculpture in Hydro Stone plaster with bronze frame depicting the myth of Leda and the Swan by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “PK LaVerne” on frame). Leda and the Swan is a Greek myth which the LaVernes revisited with several different works. In the myth, Zeus transforms himself into a beautiful swan and seduces Leda who he is in love with. This work is loosely based on a painting done by Michelangelo in 1530. The LaVernes were very knowledgeable about art history and had a deep fascination with historical cultures. It’s a stunning work of art.
