Lobel Modern, opened in 1998 by Evan Lobel, showcases furniture, lighting, hand-blown glass and art by important designers from the 1940's thru the 1980's. Located in the Four Points section of lower Manhattan.

Stunning "Kuan Su" engraved painting in patinated bronze and pewter with floral motif and hand-applied blue and orange enamels by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “P.+K.” LaVerne” on front). The painting incorporates the Kuan motif of interlocking circles, which evokes something from the past.

Rare and early open-sided table in oak with artisan ceramic tiles inset in top by Vladimir Kagan for Kagan-Dreyfuss, American, c.1950 (signed on bottom “Kagan-Dreyfuss New York. A Vladimir Kagan Design”.) Kagan incorporated hand-made ceramic tiles by Alexandra Kasuba in some of his early designs. They are works of art and their collaboration was a great success.

Stunning large hand-thrown ceramic table lamp with abstract animal motif in delicate colors by Guido Gambone, Italy 1950's (signed “Gambone” on bottom with donkey). This is one of the largest and most beautiful Guido Gambone ceramic lamps we have seen. It’s really incredible. This lamp has been rewired with silk cord and metal has been replated with a bronze finish.

Condition: Excellent - top has been refinished. Patina to bronze consistent with age.

Rare and unique sculptured faceted mirror in bronze resin and walnut burl by Paul Evans, American 1975. Comes with original cleat marked “PE - 908.” We have not seen any other mirror like this one. The original owner purchased this with a wall-mount Paul Evans bronze resin console which is signed “PE 75”. The wall-mount console is available for purchase separately.
