This artist made this model exclusively for Karl Springer. This work is very impressive and beautifully made.

As Kelvin LaVerne states in regards to this piece, “We wanted to evoke the feeling of an archeological find, a piece of something perhaps broken and shaped by time, capturing time past: history.” This work is unique.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne "Leda and the Swan" Unique Wall Sculpture 1960s (Signed) - SOLD

Unique wall sculpture in Hydro Stone plaster with bronze frame depicting the myth of Leda and the Swan by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1960's (signed “PK LaVerne” on frame). Leda and the Swan is a Greek myth which the LaVernes revisited with several different works. In the myth, Zeus transforms himself into a beautiful swan and seduces Leda who he is in love with. This work is loosely based on a painting done by Michelangelo in 1530. The LaVernes were very knowledgeable about art history and had a deep fascination with historical cultures. It’s a stunning work of art.

Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Pair of Stunning "Galatea" Bronze Table Lamps 1970s (Signed) - SOLD

Pair of rare and unique Galatea Table Lamps in bronze on patinated bronze bases, by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (signed “P.K. LaVerne” on back of each base, as well as “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” on one of the sculptures’ legs). The female figures are based on the myth of Pygmalion, a sculptor who makes an ivory statue representing his ideal woman and then falls in love with his own creation, which he names Galatea; the goddess Venus brings the statue to life in answer to his prayer. The LaVernes did a number of enchanting artworks based on mythology. These lamps are absolutely stunning. They have been rewired with new sockets and silk cords.

This is designed in 2 pieces which fit together so that the top part comes off and can be easily cleaned.

One-of-a-kind pair of monumental illuminated sculpture floor lamps in hand-brazed bronze, "Grace" and "Harmony", by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, American ca. 1970 (signed on bases “Philip + Kelvin LaVerne”).  Philip & Kelvin LaVerne produced only these 2 illuminated sculpture floor lamps.  On the backs are the original flourescent fixtures for back lighting.  On the top are 2 bulbs on each (one in the white orb and the other recessed in the open top).  They are superb in every way.

"The Passion", a unique Impressionist painting on patinated bronze and pewter with blue enamels, intricate inlays and stepped bronze framing by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970 (signed “Philip Kelvin LaVerne” in metal with original gallery label on back). Both Philip and Kelvin were highly skilled sculptors and painters, both fluent in Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. They were able to use bronze and pewter uniquely as their preferred media. This work celebrates the female form in beautiful aqua and blue tones.
